Join our International Mobility team, a dynamic group within WEX Mobility Engineering, focused on delivering cutting-edge fleet management and mobility payment solutions for major clients across the EU and APAC regions. This international team operates collaboratively across India, the UK, and the USA, developing robust SaaS and API solutions.

Our products empower fleet managers with flexible spending controls, enabling precise configuration of card usage for fueling stations and specific merchants. WEX Mobility solutions facilitate credit issuance through WEX or cobranded credit cards, enhancing operational efficiency and control for businesses.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services using object-oriented principles.

Key responsibilities include developing public REST APIs and internal gRPC APIs, crafting system designs, and leading technical decision-making. You will also author comprehensive automated tests, including unit, integration, and performance tests. Identifying and resolving system bottlenecks, addressing technical debt, and implementing scalability improvements are crucial. Furthermore, you will drive automation for testing, monitoring, and deployment pipelines to accelerate time-to-market.

Collaboration with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers is essential for feature implementation. You will also conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices. Diving deep into complex issues, devising solutions, and producing root cause analyses will ensure system reliability. Providing live-site support and acting as a technical lead for cross-team initiatives will also be part of your role.

We are looking for a seasoned engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.

A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving is essential. Expertise in designing internet-scale services with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability is required. Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Java or C#, and frameworks like SpringBoot, along with experience in building and optimizing RESTful APIs, ODATA, and SQL, is necessary.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in computer science or software engineering, 8 years of experience, and familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka), card payments, cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes), API security, and PCI DSS compliance. The ability to work with existing codebases and adapt to legacy system constraints is also valued.
