Join our International Mobility team within WEX Mobility Engineering. This role focuses on developing and enhancing fleet management and mobility payment solutions for our key customers across the EU and APAC regions. Our dynamic development team operates globally, spanning India, the UK, and the USA. We deliver cutting-edge SaaS and API solutions that empower businesses with flexible credit issuance and spend control capabilities for their fleets.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and implement high-performance, object-oriented backend services. You'll develop public REST and internal gRPC APIs, lead system design discussions, and ensure alignment with engineering best practices. Your role involves writing comprehensive automated tests, analyzing system performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks, and implementing automation for CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with product managers and designers is key to delivering new features. You will also mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and provide essential live-site support for production applications.

Additionally, you will drive cross-team projects, acting as a technical lead and unblocking other engineers. Analyzing competing technologies to recommend optimal solutions and maintaining detailed documentation (design docs, runbooks, change management) are also crucial aspects of this position.

We are looking for a seasoned professional with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience. A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving is essential. Expertise in designing internet-scale services with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability is required.

Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Java or C#, and frameworks like SpringBoot, is necessary. Experience building and optimizing RESTful APIs, ODATA framework, and SQL is also a key requirement. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, coupled with a proactive and empathetic approach, are highly valued. A Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and 8 years of experience are preferred qualifications, as is experience with event-driven architecture, cloud-native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), card payments, API security, and PCI DSS compliance.
