Join our dynamic International Mobility team, a crucial part of the WEX Mobility Engineering organization. This team focuses on delivering cutting-edge fleet management and mobility payment solutions to major clients and partners across the EU and APAC regions.

Our global development team, spanning India, the UK, and the USA, powers our Mobility systems with robust SaaS and API solutions. WEX Mobility products revolutionize credit issuance for fleet companies, enabling flexible spending controls for their employees through WEX or co-branded credit cards at fueling stations and select merchants.

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, object-oriented backend services and public REST APIs using Java. Craft scalable system designs, lead architectural decisions, and foster alignment with engineering peers.

Implement comprehensive automated testing, including unit, integration, and performance tests. Identify and address system bottlenecks and technical debt to enhance scalability and stability. Drive continuous integration and deployment to accelerate time to market.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to implement new features. Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion engineering best practices. Troubleshoot complex issues, devise effective fixes, and produce root cause analysis documents for sustained reliability.

Evaluate competing technologies to provide informed recommendations. Maintain essential documentation, including design documents and readiness plans. Provide live-site support, ensuring rapid incident resolution and continuous system improvement. Lead cross-team projects as a single-threaded owner or technical lead, proactively unblocking other engineers.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience. Candidates should possess a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving methodologies.

Expertise in designing and developing internet-scale services, focusing on scalability, availability, security, and reliability, is essential. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, empathetic approach are also key. Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Java or C#, SpringBoot, RESTful APIs, ODATA framework, and SQL, is expected.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, 8 years of software engineering experience, and familiarity with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka), card payments, cloud-native architectures (Docker, Kubernetes), API security, and PCI DSS compliance. The ability to adapt to and improve existing codebases is also valued.
