Join our dynamic International Mobility team as a Sr. Software Engineer, contributing to innovative fleet management and mobility payment solutions for major clients across EU and APAC. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global development team spanning India, the UK, and the USA, enhancing our SaaS and API-driven products.

Our WEX Mobility platform empowers businesses to manage fleet spending effectively. You'll play a key role in designing and developing features that allow fleet managers to configure intricate spend controls, ensuring cards are used exclusively at approved merchants and within specified limits.

This role offers the chance to significantly impact the evolution of our cutting-edge mobility services, providing robust and scalable solutions for a diverse international clientele.

Spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, object-oriented backend services. Develop public REST and internal gRPC APIs, driving system design decisions and ensuring alignment with engineering best practices.

Implement comprehensive automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance tests. Analyze existing systems to identify and resolve bottlenecks, reduce technical debt, and enhance scalability and stability.

Drive the adoption of CI/CD pipelines to accelerate time-to-market. Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to deliver new features.

Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of engineering excellence. Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure long-term system reliability and performance.

Evaluate competing technologies to guide strategic technical decisions and maintain essential documentation such as design docs, runbooks, and readiness plans. Provide critical live-site support, including system monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is essential, coupled with at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. A strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design principles, and proven problem-solving abilities are required.

Demonstrated expertise in building internet-scale services with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability is paramount. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, alongside an empathetic approach to teamwork, are also key.

Proficiency in backend development is crucial, with a strong command of Java or C#, and familiarity with frameworks like SpringBoot. Experience in building and optimizing RESTful APIs, the ODATA framework, and SQL is necessary. A Master's degree and 8 years of experience are preferred, alongside experience in event-driven architectures, card payments, cloud-native environments, and API security standards.
