Join our dynamic International Mobility team, a vital part of WEX Mobility Engineering, focusing on cutting-edge fleet management and mobility payment solutions for major clients in the EU and APAC.

This role is central to developing SaaS and API-driven products that empower fleet managers with sophisticated spend controls for fuel and other merchant purchases. Our global development presence spans India, the UK, and the USA, driving innovation in credit issuance via WEX and co-branded cards.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services. You will craft robust public REST APIs and internal gRPC services, lead complex system design decisions, and ensure alignment across engineering teams.

Your responsibilities will include writing comprehensive automated tests, analyzing and optimizing existing systems for scalability and stability, and implementing CI/CD pipelines to accelerate time-to-market. You'll also collaborate closely with product and design teams, conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence.

Troubleshooting intricate issues, authoring root cause analyses, and ensuring system reliability are key. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, maintain essential documentation, and provide crucial live-site support, driving continuous improvements in production applications.

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and at least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design is essential, alongside proven expertise in building internet-scale services emphasizing scalability, availability, and security.

Proficiency in backend development, particularly with Java or C#, and frameworks like SpringBoot, is required. Experience in building and optimizing RESTful APIs, ODATA, and SQL is also critical. Excellent communication and a collaborative spirit are vital for success in this role.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree and 8 years of experience. Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka), card payments, cloud-native principles (Docker, Kubernetes), API security, and PCI DSS compliance is highly advantageous. The ability to navigate and enhance existing codebases, including legacy systems, is also a plus.
