Join our International Mobility team as a Sr. Software Engineer and contribute to cutting-edge fleet management and mobility payment solutions. You will be instrumental in developing SaaS and API offerings for major clients and partners across the EU and APAC regions. Our global development team, with members in India, the UK, and the USA, focuses on creating innovative WEX and cobranded credit card products for fueling and select merchant use. Design, build, and maintain highly scalable and performant backend services using object-oriented principles. Develop public REST APIs and internal gRPC APIs to facilitate seamless inter-service communication. Lead design discussions, drive technical decisions, and ensure alignment across engineering teams.

Implement comprehensive automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, and load/performance tests. Analyze existing systems to pinpoint bottlenecks and technical debt, then implement solutions for enhanced scalability and stability. Automate testing, monitoring, healing, and scaling processes to accelerate time-to-market.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to bring new features to life. Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion best engineering practices. Troubleshoot complex issues, develop effective fixes, document root cause analyses, and ensure long-term system reliability. Evaluate competing technologies to provide informed recommendations. Maintain essential documentation, including design docs, runbooks, and readiness plans. Provide critical live-site support, monitor systems, resolve incidents rapidly, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Lead cross-team projects as a technical lead or single-threaded owner, actively facilitating progress for other engineers.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required, coupled with a minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience. A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem-solving is essential. Demonstrated expertise in building internet-scale services with a focus on scalability, availability, security, and reliability is expected. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with an empathetic approach, are crucial for success.

Proficiency in backend development, specifically with Java or C#, and familiarity with frameworks like SpringBoot are necessary. Experience in building and optimizing RESTful APIs, understanding the ODATA framework, and working with SQL are key technical skills. A Master's degree in computer science or software engineering is a preferred qualification, along with 8 years of software engineering experience. Familiarity with event-driven architecture, tools like Kafka, card payments, and cloud-native architectures (Docker, Kubernetes) would be advantageous. Awareness of API security and PCI DSS compliance, along with the ability to adapt to legacy systems, are also beneficial.
