Job description

Join GE Healthcare as a Senior Electronics Design Engineer and spearhead the development of cutting-edge mixed-signal electronic assemblies for next-generation handheld ultrasound systems. This pivotal role involves leading the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and architecture to design, verification, certification, and production release.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory experts, to craft innovative, reliable, and high-performance medical electronics. Your work will be instrumental in meeting stringent safety and regulatory standards, contributing directly to GE Healthcare's mission of improving lives in the moments that matter.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of intricate mixed-signal electronic assemblies, integrating high-speed digital circuits, analog signal conditioning, power management, embedded processors, and wireless communication interfaces. Take ownership of schematic capture, component selection, design reviews, and trade-off analyses. Develop high-density multilayer PCB designs, optimizing for performance, power, thermal behavior, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Conduct comprehensive circuit simulations and analysis, including Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI). Spearhead board bring-up activities, develop hardware verification plans, and troubleshoot complex electrical issues using advanced lab equipment. Ensure designs adhere to critical medical device regulations (e.g., IEC 60601 family, ISO 14971), RoHS, and REACH standards.

Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, schematics, and verification reports. Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team. Collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and uphold the highest product quality standards.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. We are seeking candidates with over 10 years of robust experience in electronics hardware design and development, specifically in mixed-signal systems for commercial products.

Demonstrated expertise is essential in analog circuit design, digital circuit design, power electronics, battery-powered systems, and high-density multilayer PCB design. Proficiency in circuit simulation tools like PSpice or LTspice, alongside strong laboratory debugging skills using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers, is crucial. Experience across the full product development lifecycle, from concept to production, and the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation are necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience with medical device electronics, particularly ultrasound imaging systems or handheld healthcare products. Familiarity with EDA tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro, and knowledge of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques are advantageous. A customer-focused mindset and a passion for healthcare technology innovation are highly valued.
