Join Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) to power Microsoft's 'Intelligent Cloud' mission. SCHIE is at the forefront of developing core infrastructure and foundational technologies for over 200 Microsoft online businesses, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox Live. We are seeking passionate engineers to contribute to smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experiences worldwide. Our team focuses on operational excellence in hardware manufacturing, planning, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability for Microsoft's cloud hardware. We are looking for individuals with a customer-centric approach, industry insight, and the vision to implement future technical solutions for cloud infrastructure management and optimization.
As a Senior Verification Engineer, you will be a key member of a design verification team focused on AI components, ensuring the accuracy of functions and features. You will lead pre-silicon verification efforts for custom Intellectual Property (IP) and Subsystem (SS) components, concentrating on architectural and micro-architectural aspects. Collaborate closely with architecture and design teams to guarantee implementation aligns with design intent.
Your role involves writing, executing, enhancing, and debugging constrained random stimulus, scoreboards, checkers, and assertions. You will develop Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) components to facilitate seamless integration between test code and simulation environments. Embrace Agile development methodologies, including code reviews, sprint planning, and feature deployment. Additionally, provide technical leadership through mentorship and fostering teamwork, embodying Microsoft's core values of Customer Focus, Adaptability, Collaboration, Growth Mindset, Drive for Results, Influence for Impact, Judgement, and Diversity & Inclusion.
A minimum of 7 years of related technical engineering experience is required. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with at least 4 years of technical engineering or internship experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree in a relevant field with 3 years of experience, or a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong background of over 5 years in design verification, with a proven track record of delivering complex Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) or System on Chips (SoCs), is essential.
Additional qualifications include 7+ years of industry experience in design verification, specifically with Central Processing Units (CPUs), Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), or System on Chips (SoCs). Demonstrated expertise in areas such as interconnect fabrics, Network on Chip (NOCs), or AXI-4 protocol-based IPs and subsystems is highly valued. Experience encompassing the full product cycle of IP/SoC verification, from definition to silicon, including environment architecting, effort estimation, test plans, test development, failure debugging, and coverage signoff, is expected. Experience with AI/Machine Learning (ML) SoCs is also a plus. In-depth knowledge of verification and debug principles, testbenches, UVM, or C-based test environments is crucial. Experience with post-silicon bring-up of complex SoCs, including complex NOCs, is beneficial. Familiarity with writing assertions, coverage, or formal verification is required. A solid understanding of industry-standard bus interfaces like AMBA AXI protocols is necessary. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Zsh, Bash, Python, or Perl is required, along with excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills to thrive in diverse and inclusive environments.
