Join a dynamic engineering team to build the next generation of Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA) software. This role focuses on protecting and recovering critical Oracle databases for Fortune 500 enterprises, directly impacting their most important operations through data integrity, recoverability, cyber resilience, and high performance.
This position offers a unique opportunity to shape a new team while developing deep product expertise within a global engineering organization. Collaborate with experienced engineers in India and the US, contributing to shared product priorities and delivering innovative features.
Your work will involve Oracle database kernel development and systems programming, primarily using C and PL/SQL on Linux. You'll address complex engineering challenges in areas like buffers, caches, memory management, storage, file systems, I/O, networking, concurrency, and distributed systems. A strong foundation in algorithms, thoughtful design, and understanding component interactions are key to creating efficient and maintainable software.
Contribute to the full development lifecycle: understand problems, explore codebases, identify root causes, design solutions, implement changes, write tests, and validate results. This includes new development, enhancements, and resolving complex defects, even those encountered in customer environments.
Develop and maintain ZDLRA features and enhancements in C and PL/SQL on Linux, contributing to Oracle database kernel and systems software. Translate requirements into clear designs and deliverable milestones, evaluating trade-offs for correctness, performance, and scalability.
Investigate complex defects using tools like GDB and core dumps, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and design/implement tests covering various scenarios. Utilize shell scripting for automation and adhere to secure coding practices. As your product knowledge grows, take increasing technical ownership of features and components, contributing to design decisions and code reviews.
We are seeking experienced developers with robust C, Linux, and systems programming skills. Practical knowledge of database internals, storage, distributed systems, or other demanding enterprise software is highly valued.
Prior experience with Oracle Database, RMAN, PL/SQL, or backup and recovery products is advantageous. Essential qualities include strong systems fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to translate complex requirements into reliable production software.
This role involves AI-assisted engineering, utilizing LLMs and AI coding agents to enhance code exploration, development, and testing. Critically review AI-generated suggestions and validate all changes through rigorous reviews and testing, ensuring accountability for delivered software.
