This role is for engineers passionate about tackling complex challenges in distributed systems, virtualised cloud infrastructure, and highly available services. You'll be instrumental in building automation that tackles infrastructure issues, orchestrates recovery, and minimizes manual operational tasks across our extensive compute fleet. Expertise in Java, Linux, Python, Terraform, CI/CD, networking, microservices, and system engineering is essential. As a Senior Software Developer, you will own and advance a portfolio of services and technology domains. This includes deeply understanding end-to-end architectures, call flows, configurations, technical dependencies, and the behavior of production services. You will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our critical stack, prioritizing security, resilience, scale, and performance. Your role will involve driving improvements in service architecture and articulating the technical characteristics of services and technologies.

Furthermore, you will leverage automation and orchestration principles to design and develop reusable diagnostic and remediation workflows, transforming operational runbooks into robust, testable automation. Integrating with monitoring and incident management systems will be key to supporting issue resolution. Safeguards, including validation, retries, and escalations, will be built into automated actions.

You will serve as the primary escalation point for intricate or critical issues, utilizing your profound knowledge of services and their interdependencies for troubleshooting and mitigation. Analyzing production telemetry and incident patterns will guide the identification of automation opportunities and the measurement of improvements in resolution time, reliability, and operational efficiency. You will also articulate the impact of architectural decisions on distributed systems and demonstrate a keen interest in understanding services and technologies.

We are looking for engineers with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering or a related engineering discipline. A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems is required.

Essential experience includes System Design, Platform & Reliability Engineering, ML Engineering, Data Engineering, or AIOps-focused roles. Proficiency in building ML or LLM-based systems using Python, Java, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or modern LLM frameworks is crucial. Hands-on experience with tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Github Copilot is a plus.

A deep understanding of observability data (logs, metrics, traces) and experience with platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK are necessary. Experience designing and deploying RAG pipelines, embeddings, intent models, or operational chatbots is highly valued. Strong experience architecting streaming or event-driven systems using Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub is required.

Familiarity with cloud-native systems, Kubernetes, microservices, and modern deployment patterns is expected. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to translate operational challenges into ML-based or automation-based solutions, and strong collaboration skills across SRE, platform, service management, and engineering teams are vital. Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills are mandatory.
