Our Infrastructure Delivery Engineering group focuses on creating services and tools to accelerate OCI's compute and network capacity expansion. We manage the entire lifecycle of data centers and physical assets, enabling efficient scaling and the launch of new regions to meet hyperscale customer demands.

We are seeking a passionate Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate this vital foundational platform. This role offers significant autonomy in a greenfield environment, allowing for innovation while integrating with existing OCI systems.

As a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and operating services and tools that drive OCI's compute and network capacity growth. You will collaborate closely with engineering and partner teams to deliver robust and scalable capabilities for managing physical assets throughout their lifecycle.

Your role will involve investigating complex issues across the entire technology stack, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions to enhance service reliability, performance, and operational readiness. You'll apply sound distributed-systems principles to ensure resilient production services and develop comprehensive service telemetry, dashboards, and runbooks.

This position requires active participation in on-call rotations and incident response, leveraging operational learnings to implement lasting improvements. You will contribute to technical designs, architecture discussions, code reviews, and the establishment of engineering standards. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and clearly communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs, fostering consensus through data-driven judgment.

This role requires a proven cloud development engineer with a track record of contributing to high-scale, high-impact solutions. You must be customer-focused, a clear communicator of technical concepts, and adept at working with diverse partners. A commitment to high standards in engineering outcomes and comfort operating in evolving environments are essential.

You should possess a strong foundation in computer science, including data structures and algorithms, and be proficient in at least one high-level programming language like Go or Java, with working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python. Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from conception to delivery, is crucial. Familiarity with microservice design patterns, reliable service communication, and service observability is expected.

Minimum qualifications include a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, along with 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 year in designing, delivering, or operating scalable, cloud-native distributed systems. Experience with production operations, safe code deployment, on-call rotations, and incident troubleshooting is also required. The ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team setting and effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing is key.
