Join the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team and contribute to building and operating massive-scale cloud services. OCI is at the forefront of supporting customers with complex, business-critical challenges. Our Infrastructure Delivery Engineering group focuses on developing services and tools to accelerate OCI's expansion in compute and network capacity. We manage the entire lifecycle of data centers, from planning and design to operation and decommissioning, ensuring efficient scaling and new region launches to meet hyperscale customer demands.
This is a unique opportunity to join a greenfield environment with significant autonomy. You will design, build, and operate foundational platforms for highly available, scalable services managing physical assets. The role involves integrating with existing OCI systems through established service contracts. We are seeking a hands-on engineer passionate about solving challenging distributed systems problems, valuing simplicity, customer impact, and production quality. Collaboration with other engineers and partner teams is key to delivering reliable services and supporting OCI's global growth.
Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate services and tools that accelerate OCI's compute and network capacity growth.
Collaborate with engineering and partner teams to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities for the physical asset lifecycle.
Investigate issues across the stack, identify root causes, and enhance service reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
Apply sound distributed systems and cloud infrastructure principles to deliver resilient production services.
Build and maintain comprehensive service telemetry, including dashboards, alarms, and runbooks for operational excellence.
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, leveraging operational learnings for lasting improvements.
Contribute to technical designs, architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards.
Balance delivery speed and quality through iterative, incremental deployment and strategic prioritization.
Work independently on well-defined problems and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
Communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs clearly, fostering consensus with data-driven engineering judgment.
Possess a BS/B.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
Have 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 1 year focused on designing, delivering, or operating scalable, cloud-native distributed systems.
Demonstrate proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, preferably Go and/or Java, alongside working knowledge of scripting or automation languages like Python.
Experience contributing to products throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from inception to completion.
Understand microservice design patterns, service-to-service communication protocols, and techniques for building highly reliable services.
Familiarity with service observability, including dashboards, critical service metrics, alarms, and operational health indicators.
Possess a strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms.
Have experience with production operations, including safe code deployment practices, participation in on-call rotations, and incident troubleshooting.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical ideas, including design documents, proposals, architecture diagrams, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications: - M.Tech or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. - Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment. - Experience building control-plane or data-plane solutions for cloud-native platforms. - Experience diagnosing and resolving performance, reliability, or scaling issues in complex distributed environments. - Understanding of the physical asset lifecycle in cloud-scale data centers. - Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems or related tools. - Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads. - Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform. - Familiarity with modern infrastructure components like service discovery, secret storage, containerization, and software-defined networking.
