Join the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team and contribute to building and operating massive-scale, distributed cloud services. OCI empowers customers to solve complex, business-critical challenges. Our Infrastructure Delivery Engineering group is expanding, developing services and tools to accelerate OCI's compute and network capacity growth.
This role focuses on a platform supporting the entire lifecycle of data centers, from planning to decommissioning. You will help OCI scale efficiently and launch new regions to meet the demands of large and hyperscale customers. This is a greenfield opportunity with significant autonomy to innovate within the OCI ecosystem.
You will be a hands-on engineer tackling challenging distributed-systems problems, prioritizing simplicity and customer impact, and ensuring quality in production. Collaboration with engineering and partner teams is key to delivering reliable services that drive OCI's global expansion.
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate services and tools to accelerate OCI's compute and network capacity growth. - Collaborate with engineering and partner teams to define and deliver scalable capabilities for the physical asset lifecycle. - Investigate and resolve issues across the stack, enhancing service reliability, performance, and operational readiness. - Apply distributed-systems and cloud-infrastructure principles to build resilient production services. - Develop and maintain comprehensive service telemetry, dashboards, alarms, and runbooks for operational excellence. - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, leveraging operational learnings for lasting improvements. - Contribute to technical designs, architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards. - Balance delivery speed and quality through iterative development and thoughtful prioritization. - Work independently on defined problems and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers. - Clearly communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs, building consensus with data and sound engineering judgment.
- A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required. - Possess 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 year in designing, delivering, or operating scalable, cloud-native distributed systems. - Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, such as Go or Java, with working knowledge of scripting or automation languages like Python. - Experience contributing to products throughout the full software development lifecycle, from inception to launch. - Understanding of microservice design patterns, service-to-service communication protocols, and techniques for building highly reliable services. - Familiarity with service observability, including dashboards, critical service metrics, alarms, and operational health indicators. - Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms. - Experience with production operations, safe code deployment practices, on-call rotations, and incident troubleshooting. - Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical ideas, design documents, proposals, architecture diagrams, and presentations.
