Our team within OCI is responsible for delivering core compute power, including VMs, Bare Metal servers, and GPUs. We develop and manage the essential services that make cloud functionality seamless for our customers, encompassing provisioning, monitoring, repair, control plane, and data plane operations. As a Senior Software Developer, you will take ownership of services and technology areas, developing and maintaining critical production systems. Your role involves understanding end-to-end architectures, call flows, and system dependencies to ensure security, resilience, scale, and performance.

You will be instrumental in defining and developing improvements to service architecture, articulating technical characteristics, and engineering advanced capabilities for Oracle's cloud portfolio. A key aspect of this position is understanding and communicating the scale, capacity, security, and performance requirements of our services. You'll also demonstrate a strong grasp of automation and orchestration, acting as the primary escalation point for complex issues and ensuring the stable operation of our distributed systems.

We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, coupled with a minimum of 4 years of experience in developing and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems. Proven experience with mission-critical Java backend microservices is essential.

Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform is highly valued, alongside experience in DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes. A deep understanding of Cloud Computing, observability, and NoSQL databases is required. Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills are paramount for success in this fast-paced environment.
