Join Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Raw Metal Cloud team as a Senior Software Development Engineer, a pivotal role in constructing high-performance GPU platforms for AI, machine learning, and HPC. This position focuses on the software platform that manages the entire AI infrastructure lifecycle, ensuring reliable and scalable delivery of GPU capacity.
The Raw Metal Cloud team is responsible for everything from hardware onboarding and inventory management to provisioning, validation, and final customer handoff. We bridge the gap between physical infrastructure and distributed orchestration services, optimizing GPU capacity for demanding workloads.
As an IC3 engineer, you will spearhead the design, development, and operation of critical services within the Burninator, Inventory, and Hardware Ingestion domains. This involves building robust, scalable workflows for hardware onboarding, maintaining precise asset records, and orchestrating burn-in testing and validation processes. Your contributions will directly reduce manual intervention, enhance hardware readiness, and accelerate the predictable delivery of GPU resources.
Key duties include: - Developing scalable distributed services for the infrastructure lifecycle platform. - Building reliable workflows for hardware discovery, inventory, configuration, provisioning, validation, certification, and handoff. - Creating automation for GPU and server health checks, burn-in testing, diagnostics, triage, and remediation. - Designing orchestration systems capable of handling complex operations, retries, partial failures, dependencies, and recovery across large hardware fleets. - Establishing consistent infrastructure state and readiness tracking through APIs, data models, telemetry, and auditable workflow transitions. - Investigating and resolving issues across various components including services, Linux hosts, management controllers, GPUs, and networking. Transforming recurring problems into enduring software improvements. - Defining and enhancing service reliability, performance, observability, security, and operational practices. - Driving technical decisions across teams, leading design and code reviews, and mentoring fellow engineers. - Owning components throughout the software development lifecycle, from deployment and production operation to continuous improvement. - Building operational tools, dashboards, and alarms to streamline troubleshooting and minimize manual effort. - Improving service scalability, availability, and performance through load testing, failure handling, and performance tuning. - Writing automated unit and integration tests, conducting code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation and runbooks. - Troubleshooting production issues and collaborating with infrastructure, security, hardware, and operations teams.
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. A strong foundation in developing and maintaining production software, with demonstrated ownership of service components from inception to deployment, is essential.
Technical proficiencies include: - Advanced programming skills in Java, Python, or a comparable backend language. - Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, concurrency, and distributed systems. - Experience developing REST APIs, integrating services, and handling asynchronous data processing. - Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and query optimization. - Familiarity with Linux, fundamental networking concepts, TLS, and certificate-based authentication. - Experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and production troubleshooting using logs and metrics. - The ability to translate requirements into maintainable solutions and communicate effectively with global teams. - Experience designing for fault tolerance, concurrency, state management, and recovery in distributed environments. - Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from requirements and architecture through production delivery. - Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the capacity for independent work and cross-organizational collaboration. - A track record of technical ownership, sound engineering judgment, and a commitment to mentoring other engineers.
Preferred qualifications include experience with OCI or other cloud platforms, object storage, infrastructure automation, telemetry pipelines, monitoring systems, and hardware management interfaces.
