Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer
Oracle
Oracle
This role focuses on designing, building, and refining critical components within distributed systems. The core emphasis is on creating solutions that are highly scalable, resilient, and easy to operate. You will be instrumental in developing features, conducting load and performance tests, and utilizing advanced data plane platforms and distributed state management tools for efficient, high-volume data handling.
Key aspects of the role include constructing robust fault-tolerant paths through redundancy and replication, applying recovery-oriented principles to ensure system stability, and implementing mechanisms like retries and circuit breakers to manage unreliability. Proactive issue detection and mitigation using tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry are essential. You will also author runbooks, participate in incident response, and conduct root cause analyses.
Further responsibilities involve implementing standard replication and synchronization techniques, developing automation (including Infrastructure as Code) for troubleshooting and maintenance, and applying stringent security controls like encryption and access management. Adherence to change management, compliance, and documentation standards is paramount.
Design, implement, and optimize distributed system components with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and operability. Develop features and conduct load/performance tests. Leverage data plane platforms and distributed state tools for high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing. Review peer implementations for scalability compliance. Build fault-tolerant paths (redundancy, replication, automatic failover). Apply recovery-oriented principles and implement retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts. Proactively detect and mitigate issues via tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry. Author runbooks and participate in incident response and RCAs. Implement standard replication and synchronization. Develop automation/IaC for troubleshooting and maintenance. Apply advanced security controls (encryption, access, remediation). Ensure change, compliance, and documentation standards are met.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed systems. Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, and operability principles. Experience with fault tolerance mechanisms such as redundancy, replication, and automatic failover. Familiarity with recovery-oriented computing principles. Proficiency in implementing retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts. Experience in proactive issue detection and mitigation using telemetry, alarms, and dashboards. Ability to author runbooks and participate in incident response. Experience with data replication and synchronization techniques. Demonstrated ability to develop automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Knowledge of advanced security controls including encryption and access management. Commitment to adhering to change management, compliance, and documentation standards.
