Drive the design, implementation, and optimization of distributed systems components, ensuring robust scalability, reliability, and operational excellence. Take ownership of features from conception to production, validating performance through rigorous testing and ensuring code quality and resilience through peer reviews. Utilize data plane platforms and distributed state technologies to manage high-volume data processing, retrieval, and storage.
Focus on designing for resilience, incorporating redundancy, replication, and automatic failover. Implement strategies like retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts to effectively manage network variability and dependency failures. Develop comprehensive telemetry, dashboards, and alerts, author runbooks, and actively participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and root cause analysis, leveraging operational insights to enhance system reliability.
Design and implement scalable distributed systems components, optimizing for large-scale data processing and retrieval. Develop fault-tolerant systems with redundancy and automatic failover, and implement recovery mechanisms for service disruptions. Configure retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, and timeouts for network unreliability. Implement proactive monitoring, alarming, and create dashboards. Draft and execute runbooks for failure recovery. Design and implement functional requirements and testing for features, including fault-injection and brown-out scenarios. Debug and resolve system component issues, developing automation scripts for troubleshooting. Apply advanced security measures, including encryption and access controls, and implement remediation plans. Ensure cloud infrastructure compliance and maintain up-to-date documentation. Maintain automation scripts and tools, adhering to change management plans.
Requires a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in commercial or open-source software development. Proficiency in C++, Java, or similar modern languages is essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) and building cloud-scale control plane systems is necessary. Demonstrable systems programming skills, including multi-threading and concurrency, are also key. A solid foundation in distributed systems concepts such as consistency, scaling, and failure recovery is expected. Experience with implementation testing, debugging, and documentation within a Linux development environment is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science is mandatory, with a Master's degree being preferred. An intense curiosity, a willingness to question assumptions, and a passion for building robust systems are highly valued.
