The Virtual Cloud Networking (VCN) Dataplane team is at the forefront of developing and operating the software-defined networking stack essential for OCI's virtual networks and connectivity. We focus on ensuring predictable performance, robust isolation, and high availability at cloud scale.

As a Software Engineer on this dynamic team, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing the infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational systems that underpin our networking services. This role involves deep engagement with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD practices, distributed systems, observability, and network-centric services to deliver reliable production capabilities.

Key responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and operating IaaS components and deployment workflows for OCI networking services. You will be responsible for building and maintaining Terraform-based infrastructure and deployment automation, as well as developing and improving CI/CD pipelines for safe and repeatable software delivery.

Automate operational workflows using Python and Linux tools. Collaborate with dataplane, platform, and service teams to ensure highly available distributed systems. Enhance service observability through comprehensive metrics, dashboards, alerts, and logging.

Investigate and resolve production issues related to deployments, infrastructure, network behavior, and service reliability. Gain a deep understanding of end-to-end packet-processing paths within virtualized cloud-networking environments. Contribute to AI-assisted or agentic automation initiatives to boost engineering productivity and operational intelligence.

We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure automation, or IaaS service development is required.

Strong practical expertise with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and deployment is essential. Experience in designing, implementing, or maintaining CI/CD pipelines, along with proficiency in Linux and Python for automation, is crucial. A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, packet flows, and troubleshooting, is necessary.

Familiarity with the end-to-end packet-processing path, including reception, classification, processing, forwarding, filtering, and observability, is expected. The ability to troubleshoot network and service issues using packet captures, flow logs, system logs, metrics, and dashboards is vital. Candidates should also possess a strong grasp of distributed systems, service reliability, and production operations, complemented by clear communication skills for effective cross-team collaboration.
