Join Deloitte's Technology & Transformation practice as a Senior Consultant focused on Cloud Migration in Bengaluru. You will play a pivotal role in migrating a portfolio of on-premise Java Spring Boot applications, including those dependent on Apache Kafka, to Amazon Web Services. This is an opportunity to leverage your expertise in end-to-end migration, from application assessment and dependency untangling to re-platforming and zero data loss cutovers, ensuring a clean, observable, and cost-efficient AWS footprint.

You will collaborate closely with application teams and the platform team to manage the technical migration of multiple Spring Boot services from discovery through stabilization.

Own the end-to-end technical migration of Spring Boot services from on-premise to AWS, ensuring zero data loss during cutovers. Assess applications, untangle dependencies, and re-platform to AWS-managed services or lift-and-shift where appropriate. Partner with application teams and the platform team to deliver a successful migration. Establish a clean, observable, and cost-efficient AWS footprint post-migration. Utilize extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka in production environments. Implement modern Java features and Spring framework best practices. Migrate and modernize Kafka workloads to AWS managed services like Amazon MSK or Confluent Cloud. Deploy containerized Java applications on AWS using EKS, ECS/Fargate, or App Runner. Implement Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or Terraform. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments. Manage relational and NoSQL data migration using AWS services. Ensure robust AWS security, IAM, encryption, and secrets management. Implement observability solutions for monitoring and troubleshooting. Troubleshoot application, JVM, Kafka, network, and cloud performance issues. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including application, infrastructure, security, and platform engineers.

Requires 8+ years of experience in developing production-grade backend applications using Java and 5+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Security. A minimum of 5 years of production experience with Apache Kafka is essential, covering producers, consumers, topic design, partitioning, consumer groups, schema evolution, and Kafka operations. You must also have 3+ years of production experience delivering workloads on AWS and proven experience managing end-to-end migrations of on-premise applications and Kafka workloads to AWS.

Proficiency in Java 17/21 with modern features and JVM performance tuning is required. Strong experience with Spring Boot 3/Spring Framework 6, including Jakarta EE migration, and hands-on experience with Spring for Apache Kafka or Spring Cloud Stream is necessary. Expertise in Amazon MSK/MSK Serverless or Confluent Cloud on AWS, along with Kafka migration tools like MirrorMaker 2, is crucial.

Extensive knowledge of AWS services such as EKS, ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, MSK, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, KMS, Route 53, ALB/NLB, VPC, and API Gateway is expected. You should have hands-on experience with Docker, containerization, and deploying containerized applications. Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with AWS CDK and/or Terraform, and experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or GitHub Actions are required. Experience with relational and NoSQL data migration, AWS security best practices, and implementing observability solutions is also necessary. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are vital.
