Senior Compiler Engineer – Rust GPU
NVIDIA
NVIDIA
Join NVIDIA, a leader in accelerated computing, and contribute to the future of GPU systems programming. This role focuses on integrating Rust's safety and expressiveness into native GPU and CUDA development. You will architect and implement cutting-edge compiler pipelines, intermediate representation (IR) frameworks, and JIT compilation systems.
Your work will enable developers to write memory-safe, high-performance GPU kernels using idiomatic Rust, bridging host and device execution for next-generation applications. Immerse yourself in a collaborative environment where innovation thrives.
Develop and maintain Rust-to-GPU compiler backends and Rust-native IR frameworks to compile Rust code into high-performance CUDA PTX and machine code.
Construct compiler IRs and optimizers, leveraging modern compiler architectures to integrate GPU-specific optimizations into frameworks like MLIR, PTX, and LLVM.
Support advanced ahead-of-time, just-in-time, and link-time optimization workflows for NVIDIA GPUs.
Define and implement innovative, compiler-enforced safety models that extend Rust's memory safety disciplines to the GPU execution boundary.
Expose next-generation hardware features through type-safe, ergonomic Rust abstractions for low-level GPU primitives.
A Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Possess 5+ years of relevant experience in compiler development, language design, or GPU code generation.
Demonstrate deep expertise in Rust, including compiler internals, MIR, procedural macros, and the borrow-checker/lifetime model.
Showcase hands-on experience with compiler infrastructures, IRs, and code generation tools such as LLVM IR or MLIR.
Exhibit a solid understanding of parallel programming, GPU architectures, and CUDA programming.
Strong software design, debugging, profiling, and benchmarking skills are essential.
Ability to independently define project goals, scope, and drive complex compiler engineering efforts from conception to production is necessary.
