Join our team as a Senior Product Software Engineer I, focusing on Observability & Platform. This role involves building critical telemetry pipelines, instrumentation libraries, and self-service platforms. You'll empower engineering teams to effectively deploy, detect, alert, and mitigate issues within our AWS environments. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a large-scale, 24/7 operating organization and drive reliability and velocity through innovative tooling and automation.
Key responsibilities include designing and owning telemetry pipelines, instrumentation libraries, and alerting standards. You will develop self-service tooling with backend APIs and user interfaces to enhance deployment and mitigation capabilities. A significant part of the role involves implementing IAM best practices, troubleshooting access, and championing cloud security standards. You will also build operational data pipelines for reliability KPIs, contribute to anomaly detection, and provide guidance to development teams on instrumentation and service design. Participation in on-call rotations and mentoring junior engineers through pairing and code review are also essential duties.
A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience is required, with a focus on internal platforms, developer tooling, or observability systems. Strong Python development skills are essential for writing production-quality code. You should have hands-on experience with observability tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana, and expertise in deploying and managing AWS-based solutions, including IAM administration and infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation). Experience with platform engineering, API development, and CI/CD tooling is also necessary. Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Unix/Linux systems, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills, are expected.
