Join our Security team dedicated to building and maintaining a secure environment for users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you will work with network equipment, actively monitor systems for threats, and collaborate with software engineers to proactively address vulnerabilities.

Our Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) team is committed to employee safety, managing crises, and anticipating, deterring, detecting, and acting on security risks. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture where safety, security, and resilience are embedded in all aspects of Google's operations.

You will play a key part in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring enterprise risks, providing critical information to business leaders for informed decision-making. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop innovative strategies and programs will be essential for driving sustainable effectiveness and enhancing Google's global security posture.

Responsibilities

Analyze operational processes and business requirements to ensure alignment with technology roadmaps, new products, and strategic goals, prioritizing accessibility, scalable growth, automation, and risk mitigation.

Deliver technology solutions by gathering requirements, developing user stories, conducting lab testing, and creating comprehensive project, rollout, and communication plans. This includes supporting the evaluation, integration, and implementation of third-party solutions.

Serve as a subject matter expert in physical security, offering mentoring and guidance to junior colleagues, peers, and stakeholders to achieve shared business objectives. Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of deployed solutions, gathering feedback to enhance user experience and outcomes.

Manage highly confidential information and safeguard company intellectual property with the utmost discretion.

Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, coupled with at least 5 years of experience in security assessments, design reviews, or threat modeling. You should also have 5 years of experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.

Demonstrate 5 years of coding experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages. Additionally, bring 1 year of experience leading technical teams or conducting technical risk analysis within an enterprise setting.

Preferred qualifications include experience with Physical Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Case Management, Video Management, PSIM, IT Networking, Construction/Architecture, and no-code development platforms. Experience in technology delivery and design within Physical/Cyber Security industries, holding certifications like PSP, CPP, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, or Cisco CCNA is highly valued.

Effectively align teams across operational, engineering, product, and UX disciplines. You should be adept at navigating competing priorities, clearly communicating complex ideas, and building strong stakeholder partnerships. Leadership in project execution, encompassing planning, resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, and monitoring, even through informal authority, is crucial for success in this role.
