This role is within the Risk Management Service (Independence) team, a crucial internal function at EY GDS. We are dedicated to safeguarding EY's position as an independent auditor by executing globally defined processes aligned with EY's Independence policies. Our services empower EY country practices worldwide to make informed decisions regarding client acceptance and continuation.

As part of the largest sub-service function, Independence, you will support client-serving teams in upholding EY's independence for current and prospective audit and non-audit clients. Auditor independence is a regulatory imperative, ensuring an objective distance between the firm, its client-serving professionals, and EY's audit clients, thereby preserving objectivity, integrity, and impartiality.

In this role, you will develop a strong understanding of firm-level Independence concepts. You will execute work procedures in accordance with EYG Independence policies, gaining practical experience in research, analysis, and updating independence workpapers under project manager review. This support is vital for client-serving, audit, and pursuit teams in mitigating independence-related risks.

You will review document submissions and requests from client-serving and pursuit teams to ensure completeness and accuracy. Following standard operating procedures, you will perform necessary evaluations and communicate with project managers and team members to gather responses and complete tasks. Key responsibilities include interpreting client company structures, applying entity attributes and relationships according to independence policy, and conducting secondary research using internal and external databases.

To excel in this role, you should possess a thorough understanding of client company structures and the applicability of different entity attributes and relationships in accordance with EYG Independence policy. You will conduct secondary research using both internal and external databases, analyze findings, and provide preliminary recommendations. It's important to understand audit team requirements and complete all assigned projects in line with standard operating procedures, ensuring quality and completeness.
