As a PhD Intern in Research Science, your work will focus on advancing the state-of-the-art in integrating AI capabilities into the Azure SQL Database platform. You will define research problems, design and execute research agendas, and contribute to academic knowledge, while also providing expertise to product and business groups. This may involve contributing to standards organizations, filing patents, authoring white papers, developing internal tools, or providing expert consultation to product and business groups.

To be considered for this exciting internship, you must currently be pursuing a Master's or Doctorate degree in a related field. It is essential that you have at least one additional academic quarter or semester remaining after the internship concludes.

Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in designing scalable data systems, applying Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning techniques to large-scale data applications, or integrating these approaches. A proven ability to develop original research agendas and collaborate effectively with researchers and product development teams is highly valued.
