As a Codec Engineer, you will develop and refine encoder/decoder solutions, impacting billions of streaming hours annually. Your responsibilities will include optimizing codec performance, implementing effective video delivery strategies, and collaborating with team members on quality assessment and algorithm design.
You will also contribute to integrating video processing workloads into our streaming infrastructure, helping to build production-ready solutions. Active participation in technical design discussions and code reviews is expected. The role involves writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code to drive innovation.
We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience, alongside 2+ years in system design or architecture, focusing on patterns, reliability, and scaling. Proficiency in at least one programming language is essential.
A solid understanding of key video coding standards such as H.264, HEVC, and AV1 is required. Preferred qualifications include experience across the full software development life cycle, familiarity with video encoding optimization and profiling tools, knowledge of video quality metrics, and experience with open-source video encoders like FFmpeg. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is advantageous.
