Job description

Amazon is seeking a dynamic Project Manager II for its Global Engineering Services team. This role is crucial for building customer-centric facilities and requires a deep understanding of project lifecycles, including assessment, design, execution, and performance qualification. Responsibilities encompass site selection, ensuring statutory and legal compliance, managing project safety, and driving value management for projects of varying scales. The role involves executing diverse technical projects, from greenfield and brownfield developments to improvement initiatives.

This is an opportunity to join a team that's shaping the future of online retail by building the infrastructure that supports it. You'll contribute to making history by ensuring our facilities meet the highest standards of engineering and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will lead the planning and execution of building formats across South India, responsible for setting up new centers, expanding existing facilities, and managing relocations. You will also drive key project management initiatives such as standardization, optimization, and productivity improvements, alongside managing project financials.

Key duties include ensuring the timely and safe delivery of facilities, upholding high engineering standards. This involves supporting feasibility assessments through site visits and due diligence, finalizing conceptual layouts, preparing scopes of work, and managing cost estimates and Capex requests. You will oversee consultant and resource management, collaborate with procurement for vendor selection, and track material requirements and implementation. Progress monitoring, quality control of developer activities, and ensuring snag-free handovers to the Facilities Team are also critical. You'll work with the Launch Team for site readiness and ensure adherence to budget and safety targets, aiming for Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs). Regular progress reviews and timely project closure, including commercial aspects, are expected.

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals with a Bachelor's degree and proven experience in engineering, including supervisory roles. A background in fast-paced industrial, logistics, production, or manufacturing environments is essential, along with demonstrated project management expertise.

Knowledge of electrical and HVAC systems is preferred. Experience with automated equipment, packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems, as well as preventative maintenance systems, would be advantageous. While not mandatory, a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience in project, program, or product management with a focus on technical education programs is a plus. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
