This role is for a Senior Macro Conversion Engineer responsible for transforming legacy Rocket terminal emulator macros and Excel-based VBA macros into robust IBM PCOMM automation solutions. The focus is on maintaining business functionality, performance, and output integrity throughout the conversion process.

Key responsibilities include analyzing and reverse-engineering Rocket macro scripts to understand business logic and dependencies. Conversion will be performed using technologies such as VBA, VBScript, PowerShell, PCOMM HACL Automation, EHLLAPI Automation, and COM Automation Solutions. Development will involve automating host navigation, screen recognition, field processing, function key handling, file transfers, multi-session operations, and batch processing. Enhancing reliability by replacing hard-coded delays with dynamic synchronization techniques, implementing comprehensive logging, error handling, retry mechanisms, and recovery workflows is also essential. Creating design documentation, generating macro mapping documents, and supporting operational runbook development are further aspects of this role.

Candidates must possess a minimum of 12 years of experience with IBM 3270 and IBM 5250 terminal emulation platforms. A deep understanding of host sessions, presentation spaces, screen attributes, AID keys, and keyboard mappings is required. Strong experience with IBM Personal Communications (PCOMM), EHLLAPI, HACL, and COM Automation, including session profile management and file transfer configuration, is essential. Advanced proficiency in VBA and VBScript is mandatory. Preferred programming languages include PowerShell, Python, C#, and Java.
