Seeking a Senior Macro Conversion Engineer to lead the technical transformation of Rocket terminal emulator macros and Excel-based VB macros into robust IBM PCOMM automation solutions. This role demands meticulous attention to preserving business functionality, performance, and output integrity throughout the conversion process.

Key to success is a deep understanding of macro analysis, reverse engineering business logic, and implementing efficient automation strategies. The ideal candidate will excel in mainframe and terminal emulation environments, bringing extensive experience with IBM 3270/5250 and various terminal emulation platforms.

Analyze and reverse engineer Rocket macro scripts and workflows, converting them into IBM PCOMM automation solutions using VBA, VBScript, PowerShell, PCOMM HACL, EHLLAPI, and COM Automation. Develop mainframe automation for host navigation, screen recognition, field processing, function key handling, file transfers, multi-session operations, and batch processing.

Enhance reliability by replacing hard-coded delays with dynamic synchronization techniques, implementing robust logging, error handling, retry mechanisms, and recovery workflows. Document all design specifications and macro mappings, and support the creation of operational runbooks.

Requires a minimum of 12 years of experience with IBM 3270, IBM 5250, and terminal emulation platforms, along with a profound understanding of host sessions, presentation spaces, screen attributes, AID keys, and keyboard mappings.

Strong proficiency in IBM Personal Communications (PCOMM), EHLLAPI, HACL, and COM Automation is essential, including session profile management and file transfer configuration. Advanced expertise in VBA and VBScript is mandatory. Preferred skills include PowerShell, Python, and C#. Experience with Agile methodologies like Scrum and Agile Safe, along with functional skills in Project Management, Estimation & Scheduling, and Software Configuration, is highly valued.
