Job description

Sarvam is at the forefront of building India's sovereign AI platform, encompassing research, models, infrastructure, and applications. We are dedicated to making AI truly work for India, collaborating with leading enterprises and public institutions. Our partners include prominent brands such as Tata Capital, SBI Life, CRED, IDFC, and LIC, supported by investors like Lightspeed, Peak XV, and Khosla Ventures.

This role is for product managers who are passionate builders, deeply engaged with customers, and focused on delivering tangible products. The position offers broad scope, allowing you to contribute across diverse areas including consumer AI, enterprise platforms, developer tools, speech systems, and edge deployments, based on your unique strengths and interests.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of product areas from conception to completion, involving user engagement, specification writing, success metric definition, and outcome measurement. Dive deep into the operational aspects of AI systems, including prompt design, model selection, latency optimization, failure mode analysis, and evaluation pipelines. Leverage your skills to write code, prompts, and copy to rapidly learn and validate product ideas. Utilize data analysis, including query writing and event instrumentation, to diagnose product performance and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate directly with engineering, design, and leadership teams, fostering a streamlined and efficient workflow. Focus on weekly product releases rather than extensive planning cycles.

Qualifications

We seek individuals with 3-7 years of product management experience, demonstrated by shipping impactful products at scale within strong Indian B2C or B2B companies. Current product managers are preferred, with the role not being suitable for those transitioning from consulting, project management, or program management backgrounds. A strong, hands-on understanding of AI is crucial; candidates should have experience building agents, understanding context window mechanics, and navigating trade-offs between cost, latency, and accuracy. Experience with evaluation frameworks, tool calling, or agentic workflows is highly advantageous.

Exceptional data skills are required, including proficiency in writing SQL, setting up funnels in analytics tools like PostHog or Mixpanel, and defining meaningful, impactful success metrics. Strong product thinking is essential, starting with customer problems, engaging regularly with users, structuring ambiguous challenges, and delivering robust initial versions without unnecessary complexity. A systems thinking approach is valued, enabling the understanding of interdependencies and failure points within a product.

Candidates should exhibit high ownership and agency, proactively solving problems and demonstrating a commitment to resolving issues. Excellent communication skills are necessary to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including engineers, leadership, and end-users.
