Mastercard seeks a seasoned Principal Workday Technical Architect to spearhead the architectural vision for Workday and its connected People & Capability technologies. This pivotal role acts as the primary technical authority, guiding Workday's architecture, integrations, extensibility, security, data management, and platform modernization efforts.
The architect will collaborate closely with business leaders, product development, engineering, security, and governance teams. The objective is to deliver robust, secure, and forward-thinking solutions that empower Mastercard's global workforce and support strategic business objectives.
This position requires a blend of deep Workday technical acumen, broad HR technology understanding, and proven enterprise architecture experience. The ideal candidate will bring strategic foresight and hands-on guidance across various HR domains including HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and Learning.
Define and maintain the long-term architectural strategy, standards, and roadmap for Workday and associated People & Capability technologies. Lead the design of highly scalable, secure, and resilient Workday solutions, encompassing integrations and core platform functionalities. Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering leads to translate strategic priorities into actionable technology solutions. Govern architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with overarching enterprise standards and driving simplification within the technology landscape. Assess emerging Workday capabilities and innovation opportunities to enhance employee experience, streamline operations, and achieve key business outcomes. Provide essential technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance, influencing engineering teams on best practices, solution trade-offs, and effective implementation strategies. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, articulating complex architectural concepts clearly and concisely in business-friendly terms to facilitate informed decision-making. Develop and enforce critical architectural documentation, ensuring strict adherence to Mastercard's engineering principles and security mandates.
A minimum of 10 years in enterprise application architecture and engineering is essential. Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in hands-on Workday technical architecture within large, complex organizational structures. Profound expertise in implementing Workday integrations via Studio, Core Connectors, EIB, APIs, web services, and middleware platforms. Proven ability to architect and govern Workday Extend solutions, addressing complex business needs while minimizing customization and technical debt. Comprehensive knowledge of Workday security architecture, governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and audit controls. Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, API design best practices, modern data architecture concepts, and established enterprise integration patterns. Successful track record in leading significant large-scale transformation and modernization initiatives. Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities. Demonstrated ability to influence strategic technology and business decisions across diverse organizations. Possess a curious, resilient, and energetic approach to continuous learning and problem-solving, driven by opportunities for significant impact. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field is required.
