We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer / Solution Architect to join our Decision Management Platform (DMP) team. This pivotal role will focus on our customer-facing Decision Products UI (DPUI), also known as The Fraud Center. You will be instrumental in defining and leading the architecture for DPUI's API, services, and data layers, collaborating closely with the UI Architect. Your leadership will guide the platform's evolution, ensuring it remains secure, scalable, and resilient while meeting enterprise and regulatory standards. This is an exciting opportunity to influence technical strategy and drive innovation in real-time decisioning platforms.
As a Principal Software Engineer / Solution Architect, you will take ownership of the DPUI API, service, and data architecture, ensuring seamless support for analyst workflows, customer capabilities, and real-time service interactions. You will define target-state solutions and guide the design of applications for event review, case management, reporting, rules management, and operational processes.
Key responsibilities include shaping architecture across APIs, microservices, databases, and integration patterns to achieve high performance and resilience. You will create clear architecture deliverables to facilitate decision-making and governance, driving architectural decisions to completion by balancing long-term vision with immediate delivery needs. This role involves close partnership with product teams and the UI Architect to shape roadmaps and align technical strategies with business priorities.
You will provide essential technical leadership to engineering teams through design reviews and implementation guidance, working collaboratively with engineering, UX, operations, and subject matter experts. Contributing to governance and assurance processes, you will ensure designs are well-documented and ready for implementation. You will also act as a mentor to emerging architects, fostering growth in architectural capabilities across teams. Your efforts will drive improvements in speed to market, operational efficiency, platform flexibility, and long-term maintainability.
We are looking for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in architecting large-scale, high-performance distributed platforms within complex enterprise environments. A strong ability to define solution direction across multiple teams and guide engineering through the full lifecycle of design, build, and delivery is essential.
Excellent communication skills are critical for aligning stakeholders, supporting decision-making, and ensuring effective execution. You should possess strong partnership skills, enabling close collaboration with product teams to shape solution roadmaps and align architecture with evolving business needs. Confidence in leading technical decisions, managing trade-offs, and influencing both technical and non-technical stakeholders is expected.
The ideal candidate will combine strategic foresight with hands-on technical acumen, bringing clarity to ambiguous situations and empowering teams to move forward with confidence. A robust foundation in distributed systems, API and service design, modern backend architecture, and data-intensive platform design is a must. Experience with microservices, domain-driven design, modern integration patterns, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and various cloud environments is required. A solid understanding of web architecture, application development, integration patterns, RESTful APIs, relational and operational data technologies like Oracle and PostgreSQL, and data models for high-volume transaction processing is also crucial. Defining and ensuring non-functional requirements for resilience, scalability, observability, security, and performance are key aspects of this role, alongside experience in modernization and platform transformation initiatives where service continuity is paramount.
