Lead a team in analyzing software and hardware behavior using telemetry and experiments to identify optimization opportunities. Provide technical leadership for complex investigations spanning low-level debugging, performance, reliability, and power management. Define the strategic technical roadmap for Windows Fundamentals, aligning architecture and investments with business goals. Manage the end-to-end delivery of solutions across hardware, OS, service, and application layers. Champion a high engineering bar for quality, security, and performance, ensuring predictable execution. Utilize data and customer insights for strategic trade-offs and risk management. Recruit, coach, and retain a diverse engineering team, fostering strong partnerships across the ecosystem.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with at least 12 years of technical engineering experience, including coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, is required. Alternatively, equivalent experience will be considered.
Demonstrated people management experience of over 3 years, focusing on coaching, performance management, and career development for software engineers, is essential.
Proven experience in leading the design, development, and optimization of complex system software or platform capabilities is expected. Candidates should possess deep technical judgment in software architecture, systems design, debugging, and engineering trade-offs.
An ability to set strategy, navigate ambiguity, prioritize investments with data, and influence cross-organizational decisions is critical. Experience leading teams focused on operating system architecture, system-level development, or platform engineering is highly valued, as is deep knowledge of Windows internals, performance, reliability, or power optimization.
Candidates must have experience driving initiatives across hardware, firmware, operating system, service, and application boundaries. Proficiency in using large-scale telemetry, experimentation, statistical analysis, or Azure data platforms for product and engineering decisions, alongside a track record of influencing architecture and strategy across multiple teams and stakeholders, is required.
