As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will own end-to-end people, technology, and delivery aspects. Your focus will be on leading teams to design, build, validate, and operate scalable software solutions in AI, silicon, and software, with a primary goal of establishing strong Fundamentals for the Copilot+ PC brand.
Key responsibilities include: - Guiding and developing a team of Software Engineers through clear expectations, feedback, and career development. - Setting technical direction and execution plans by collaborating with Product Managers and stakeholders. - Ensuring operational excellence by reinforcing engineering fundamentals and managing live-site issues. - Utilizing customer feedback and data to drive improvements in Windows Fundamentals. - Establishing robust engineering practices for design, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration. - Providing technical guidance and escalation support for complex debugging and performance analysis. - Fostering an inclusive, customer-focused team environment.
We seek a leader with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, coupled with at least 12 years of experience in AI/ML software or systems engineering. A minimum of 4 years in people management, including hiring and developing engineering teams, is essential.
Your background should include extensive experience in bridging model development with software API engineering and Microsoft ecosystem stakeholders. You should be adept at leading the design of internal tools for accuracy degradation measurement and API performance analysis. Aligning engineering metrics with Windows AI Foundry, DirectML, and ONNX Runtime specifications is crucial.
Proven expertise in establishing regression tracking systems, possess a strong technical foundation in systems, platform, and on-device AI experiences, and have a track record of collaborating with model training and application software engineers. Familiarity with Windows architecture, OS fundamentals, and AI automation for operational efficiency is required.
