The Transfer Solutions team is at the forefront of this evolution, designing, building, and operating the technology for Mastercard's next-generation payment applications. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive innovation and technical excellence within this dynamic environment.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on technology leader, spending approximately 70% of your time coding and 30% coaching engineers. You will be the team's technical authority, driving innovation and organizational growth.

Key responsibilities include: - Writing non-feature code, focusing on interfaces, tests, and architecture. - Implementing Domain-Driven Design and consumer-driven contracts for rapid domain model evolution. - Leveraging cutting-edge engineering practices and multiple frameworks to optimize feature delivery. - Embracing declarative and functional programming paradigms, actively managing technical debt and refactoring for improved SDLC, performance, and availability. - Architecting and delivering complex enterprise-wide initiatives and new services in collaboration with product owners. - Contributing to agile processes, driving prioritization decisions, and leading guild initiatives to mentor engineers.

We are looking for an expert in building highly resilient and scalable distributed systems, with extensive experience in various database, messaging, and caching technologies. A proven track record in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, APIs, Distributed Systems, Event-Driven Architecture, SQL, and secure coding standards is essential.

Ideal candidates will possess: - Deep understanding and experience with DevOps best practices, CI/CD, automation, pipelines, virtualization, and containerization. - Knowledge of operating system internals (Windows, Linux, Mainframe) for writing performant code. - Skills in developing and evangelizing reference architectures and engineering principles. - Experience with advanced design patterns and API standards for driving service adoption. - Ability to lead and coach teams in software planning and estimation for large-scale programs. - Expertise in performance engineering, architecture cost analysis for cloud environments, and defining operational testing practices for system resilience. Experience with agile and modern SDLC practices is also required.
