Join the Prime Video Commerce team in Bengaluru and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how customers worldwide access content. This is an opportunity to lead the technical vision for our offers and payments transaction path, processing millions of requests per second across numerous countries and devices.
We are at a critical juncture, evolving our systems into a unified orchestration platform. This transformation focuses on decoupling payment logic, enhancing availability to four-nines, and pioneering new features like agent interaction support and advanced pricing rules. As a Principal Engineer, you will own the end-to-end technical strategy, bridging architectural fragmentation across domains and Amazon verticals.
Drive the technical direction for the commerce platform's offer-to-payment architecture, making key decisions on system design, service boundaries, and data contracts to ensure performance, scalability, and resilience.
Define and execute a multi-year architecture transformation to bolster resiliency, improve monitorability, and increase flexibility and delivery speed. You will be hands-on, directly contributing to goals recognized at the executive level.
Spearhead innovation in AI/GenAI-powered commerce, including designing agent-callable service interfaces and intelligent decision-making systems. Foster collaboration across organizations to align technical visions and influence decisions at senior leadership levels.
Establish best practices for system architecture, operational excellence, and engineering processes, maintaining high standards for software quality, availability, and cost efficiency. Mentor and develop senior engineers, guiding them toward principal-level scope through design reviews and hands-on pairing.
A minimum of 12 years in software development, with profound expertise in distributed systems, is essential. You should have a proven history of leading architecture transformations across multiple teams and services, focusing on driving adoption, not just design.
Demonstrated experience operating systems at a massive scale (millions of transactions per second) with high availability is crucial. The ability to influence without direct authority across organizational boundaries is a key requirement.
This role demands a hands-on practitioner who actively writes code, reviews designs, and prototypes solutions, rather than solely governing from a distance. Experience with the evolution of service-oriented architectures, including decomposition, interface harmonization, and platform building, is highly valued.
