The Turing team is an innovative group dedicated to pushing the boundaries of state-of-the-art deep learning models. Software Engineers and Applied Scientists work in tandem, leveraging world-class distributed training infrastructure to enhance end-user experiences across Microsoft. This role offers a chance to contribute to impactful AI solutions.
Lead design discussions, create design documents, and ensure alignment with project objectives, while architecting system designs that meet stringent security, compliance, and scalability standards.
Enhance and reuse developer tools to streamline code creation, testing, and deployment. Continuously stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to elevate product performance and efficiency.
Mentor team members through code reviews and pair programming, fostering the development of extensible and maintainable code. Oversee the implementation and deployment of solutions, ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks.
Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), actively monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and restoring services to guarantee optimal reliability. Drive initiatives to reduce incident frequency by analyzing patterns and implementing comprehensive solutions.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders to thoroughly understand user requirements and expectations. Integrate continuous feedback loops from users and stakeholders to iteratively refine designs and solutions, ensuring user-centric development.
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, combined with at least 6 years of technical engineering experience, including proficiency in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, is required. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, coupled with 8+ years of relevant industry experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of extensive industry experience is highly valued.
Demonstrated success in designing and deploying AI-powered products or platforms, with specific experience in large language models, agentic systems, or retrieval technologies, is essential. Proven software engineering judgment and the ability to translate advanced AI capabilities into reliable, scalable, and maintainable product experiences are critical.
Experience in architecting and operating large-scale cloud or distributed systems, emphasizing reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence, is a significant advantage. The ability to shape technical strategy, influence architectural decisions across teams, mentor engineers, and deliver measurable customer outcomes in dynamic environments is expected. Security screening, including a Microsoft Cloud Background Check, is a mandatory requirement for this role.
