NVIDIA is seeking a principal software engineer to shape the future of our Kubernetes platform. This role involves developing foundational capabilities for self-service GPU infrastructure, managed Kubernetes control planes, and large-scale AI computational environments.
You will operate at the nexus of platform architecture and production-grade Kubernetes lifecycle management. Your leadership will drive the technical strategy and execution for systems that simplify the provisioning, upgrading, operation, and scaling of clusters across cloud and on-premises setups.
Lead the architecture and development of core Kubernetes platform components, including cluster management, control plane services, and fleet operations. Design and implement highly available distributed systems and APIs for managing Kubernetes clusters at scale. Define technical requirements, validation processes, and production-readiness standards for declarative workflows. Collaborate with diverse engineering teams to ensure cohesive platform experiences. Address and resolve complex platform issues impacting scalability and reliability for large-scale AI deployments. Influence engineering standards, architectural decisions, and long-term platform strategy. Mentor senior engineers and elevate the bar for design quality and engineering rigor.
BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Possess over 15 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on building and operating large-scale production systems. Demonstrate deep expertise in Kubernetes internals, APIs, controllers, operators, and cluster lifecycle management. Exhibit a strong background in distributed systems design, reliability, scalability, and failure recovery. Proven success in building platform software, infrastructure control planes, or foundations for managed services. Proficiency in systems or cloud-native languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or C++. Experience in designing clear APIs and abstractions for platform consumers. Showcase the ability to provide technical leadership across teams and drive cross-functional initiatives. Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a record of significant technical contributions and influence on department-level architecture.
