As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the architectural design and development of large-scale, globally distributed systems that handle billions of transactions. You will drive engineering decisions across multiple products and services, defining long-term technology strategies, architecture standards, and platform roadmaps.
Your role involves designing and building reusable components, evaluating trade-offs in scalability, performance, and cost, and establishing enterprise-wide engineering patterns. You will collaborate with product owners to architect and deliver new services, resolve complex enterprise-wide initiatives, and drive improvements to customer experience across our product offerings. This position also encourages knowledge sharing through public speaking and publications on emerging technical topics.
We are seeking a deeply passionate software engineer with expertise in designing and developing highly available, fault-tolerant, and geographically distributed systems. You should possess a strong understanding of complex consistency, replication, and concurrency challenges, with a proven ability to operate systems at massive scale.
Demonstrated mastery across our technology stack is essential, including Java (preferred) or Go, Layer 7 protocols (HTTP/REST/gRPC/API Gateway), messaging systems (Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, Solace), Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Microservices, and various database technologies (SQL/NoSQL/NewSQL/Datawarehouse).
A comprehensive understanding of operating systems, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing), storage systems, and compute, memory, and I/O subsystems is required. You should be adept at troubleshooting complex production issues, optimizing database access, and have experience driving architecture reviews and leading capacity planning and performance engineering initiatives.
