We are seeking a Principal Storage Engineer to architect and optimize enterprise storage for Silicon Development.

This critical role ensures the availability, performance, scalability, and security of storage systems essential for EDA tool simulations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in on-premises and cloud SAN/NAS technologies, replication, backup, recovery, and performance tuning for low-latency environments.

This global position requires close collaboration with Operations and Silicon Design teams. You will forecast workloads, analyze usage, and ensure storage service reliability. Your work will shape the future of storage infrastructure that drives Microsoft's silicon innovation, bridging infrastructure engineering and advanced semiconductor development.

- Architect, design, implement, and manage enterprise storage solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms for scalability, performance, and reliability. - Continuously monitor storage performance and capacity, proactively resolving bottlenecks and planning for future growth. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including silicon design, CAD, operations, and infrastructure engineering, to align storage solutions with business and technical needs. - Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for storage architecture, operational procedures, and compliance policies. - Drive technical execution and mentor other engineers to enhance team capabilities. - Ensure adherence to data governance, compliance, and security standards, including encryption, access control, and audit readiness. - Support backup and disaster recovery strategies for data integrity, availability, and rapid recovery of critical workloads.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.

You should have over 12 years of experience in enterprise storage administration.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation is essential, with at least 4 years of experience.

Additionally, 4+ years of experience supporting Engineering within a semiconductor company is a must.

Expertise in storage platforms like NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, or similar is required. Familiarity with storage protocols including iSCSI, FC, NFS, and SMB is also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas), storage-related certifications (e.g., NetApp NCDA, EMC Proven Professional), and experience with cloud storage services (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Azure ANF, Google Cloud Storage).

This role requires the ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
