We are seeking a Principal Platform Software Engineer to lead critical platform initiatives. This role involves advancing runtimes and middleware patterns to ensure seamless interoperability and scalable multi-tenant environments. You will be instrumental in diagnosing and resolving complex cross-service issues, upholding rigorous standards for versioning, compatibility, and safe deployment practices. A key focus will be driving observability standards, capacity planning, and resilience patterns across a variety of workloads.
This position also entails creating comprehensive migration guides and adoption playbooks designed to enhance ecosystem consistency and elevate the developer experience.
Key responsibilities include leading cross-team efforts to evolve middleware patterns and runtimes for standardized, scalable interoperability. You will define and enforce versioning, deprecation, and rollout strategies to minimize downstream impacts. Driving shared observability baselines, including SLOs and error budgets, alongside resilience patterns for multiple services is crucial.
In software development, you will design solutions, analyze requirements, and guide engineers through the entire SDLC. This includes developing new features, leading code reviews, conducting complex debugging, and implementing robust testing and quality assurance processes. Performance profiling, optimization, and troubleshooting intricate API functionality and integration issues are also key.
Architecturally, you will contribute to system design, provide technical guidance to junior developers, and ensure adherence to architectural standards. Implementing complex performance optimization and scalability strategies, alongside occasional technology research for architectural changes, will be part of this role. You will also collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer issues, provide advanced technical support, and advocate for product enhancements.
Furthermore, you will ensure adherence to development practices and coding standards, participate in peer reviews, and implement secure coding practices. This role involves driving system improvements, automation, and testing to maintain service availability, health, and reliability.
This role requires extensive experience in leading platform projects that span multiple teams. A deep understanding of evolving runtimes and middleware patterns for interoperability and multi-tenant scale is essential.
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex cross-service issues, coupled with expertise in enforcing versioning, compatibility, and safe rollout practices, is necessary. You must be adept at driving observability standards, capacity planning, and resilience patterns across various workloads.
Experience in producing migration guides and adoption playbooks is expected. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership in software architecture, system design, and driving continuous improvement in development processes. The ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to talent development is also highly valued.
