Join the AI Infrastructure - Network Operations team at OCI, where you'll be instrumental in supporting and evolving the RDMA/RoCE/InfiniBand network fabrics critical for OCI's leading AI and HPC customers. These high-performance networks form the backbone of OCI's AI, GPU, and HPC services, powering generative AI innovation for top-tier vendors. If your AI workloads run on OCI, our team ensures the robust network infrastructure beneath them.
As a Network Operations Engineer, you will contribute to the design, deployment, and ongoing operations of a vast, global Oracle cloud computing environment. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and supporting RDMA/RoCE/InfiniBand network fabrics and systems, leveraging both deep network expertise and advanced automation skills to ensure a seamless production environment. Operating within a cloud network with a global footprint, your role will involve managing hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, interconnected via dedicated backbone infrastructure and the internet.
Lead critical network lifecycle management initiatives, defining technical objectives, delivery roadmaps, and implementation strategies for large-scale network infrastructure projects. Transform high-level network architectures into detailed, scalable, and reliable designs and deployment plans. Serve as a technical lead for complex network projects, guiding cross-functional engineering efforts across design, deployment, automation, and operations.
Implement and support robust network solutions spanning data center, backbone, cloud, and service provider environments. Collaborate with service owners and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration with monitoring, observability, automation, and operational support systems. Act as a specialized Tier 2 escalation point for network incidents, driving root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and fostering long-term reliability improvements. Spearhead investigations into complex network challenges and large-scale service-impacting events.
Develop innovative automation solutions, tools, and scripts to enhance operational efficiency, network reliability, deployment consistency, and incident response capabilities. Contribute to the architecture and deployment of network automation frameworks and operational tooling. Work closely with product teams, program managers, network leadership, and PMO organizations to align infrastructure capabilities with evolving product and service requirements. Partner with vendor engineering teams and account managers for troubleshooting, technology evaluation, and driving operational enhancements. Participate in hardware evaluations, RFQ/RFP processes, and the adoption of new networking technologies. Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing. Champion engineering best practices, documentation standards, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
A minimum of 12 years of experience in network operations and design is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is essential, with a Master’s degree being preferred. Demonstrable expertise in large-scale network operations, design, and troubleshooting is crucial.
Proficiency in routing and switching technologies is mandatory, including BGP, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, and MPLS, along with extensive experience in data center networking. Prior experience with RDMA/RoCE/InfiniBand technologies is highly desirable. A strong background in network automation using Python, Ansible, APIs, or similar tools, including building AI agents for automation, is expected.
Solid understanding of observability, monitoring, telemetry, and incident management principles is necessary. Experience working within cloud infrastructure, hyperscale environments, or large-scale distributed systems is a significant advantage. The ability to lead technical projects and influence cross-team outcomes, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills, is vital for effective collaboration across engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
