As a Principal Infrastructure Architect/Engineer specializing in Azure, DevOps, Kubernetes, and Terraform, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our cloud infrastructure. This role is pivotal for designing, building, and operating the foundational platforms that ensure secure, reliable, and scalable delivery of our products and services. You will focus on Azure-based infrastructure and cloud-native services, driving automation to enhance transaction processing, analytics, and developer productivity enterprise-wide.

This is a deeply experienced technical leadership position with an enterprise-wide scope. You will be responsible for charting the long-term platform strategy, championing architectural excellence across various domains, and ensuring that cloud infrastructure investments align perfectly with Mastercard's business and technology objectives. Your leadership will guide the evolution of critical platform capabilities, establish robust engineering standards, and proactively identify opportunities to modernize, simplify, and scale our cloud ecosystem. As a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:

- Setting and driving the long-term technical vision and strategy for cloud infrastructure and platform engineering across multiple domains. - Serving as the ultimate architectural authority for Azure-based infrastructure, ensuring unwavering consistency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards. - Leading the design of highly complex, business-critical platform systems, skillfully making and guiding key architectural trade-offs. - Establishing and enforcing enterprise-wide patterns, standards, and guardrails for secure, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud solutions. - Influencing and aligning senior engineering, product, and architecture leaders on multi-year platform direction and investment priorities. - Proactively identifying and mitigating systemic and emerging risks across reliability, security, scalability, and financial efficiency. - Driving platform simplification and modernization efforts, effectively reducing duplication and technical fragmentation across teams. - Championing self-service platform capabilities and developer experience improvements at an enterprise scale. - Leading and facilitating cross-organizational design reviews to elevate engineering quality and consistency. - Mentoring and developing senior engineers and technical leaders, raising the overall bar for engineering excellence across the organization. - Acting as a trusted advisor to leadership, translating business strategy into durable, scalable platform solutions. - Staying ahead of industry trends, bringing forward new ideas and capabilities that meaningfully advance Mastercard’s cloud ecosystem.

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

- A minimum of 14 to 20 years of comprehensive career experience in a similar field or technology. - Deep, enterprise-scale experience in designing and operating Azure-based cloud platforms, covering compute, networking, storage, identity, and managed services. - Recognized expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code and automation at scale, with a strong focus on composability, governance, and policy-driven engineering. - Advanced understanding of cloud security architecture, including zero-trust design, identity federation, secure network boundaries, and regulatory considerations. - A proven track record of architecting and evolving highly resilient, globally distributed systems, demonstrating a strong command of failure domains and recovery strategies. - Demonstrated ability to define and execute multi-team, multi-phase technical strategies, effectively managing dependencies and employing incremental delivery models. - A strong bias toward operational excellence, ensuring observability, reliability engineering practices, and cost transparency are foundational elements of all solutions. - Exceptional problem-solving and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose complex, cross-domain issues and drive them to resolution. - Extensive experience with enterprise CI/CD, SDLC governance, and platform engineering practices at scale. - Highly effective communication skills, capable of influencing executive stakeholders and driving alignment across large, distributed organizations. - A consistent track record of developing senior talent and shaping engineering culture, extending beyond direct reporting lines. - A pragmatic leadership approach, balancing strategic vision with effective execution and adeptly navigating organizational and technical trade-offs. - Active contribution to industry and internal communities, maintaining a strong pulse on emerging trends in cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering.
