We are seeking an influential Principal Data Platform Architect to shape and implement the future of enterprise data capabilities. This pivotal role will drive the design and enhancement of strategic platforms, making it simpler for external data to be securely integrated with Mastercard. The goal is to empower product teams, consultants, and analysts to effortlessly discover, access, and utilize enterprise data. Your expertise will transform complex, fragmented data processes into scalable, self-service experiences, fostering innovation and maximizing the value derived from Mastercard's data assets.
Define the enterprise data platform's strategic direction and technical vision for data onboarding, exchange, discovery, and consumption. Develop robust roadmaps that balance immediate business needs with long-term platform scalability and reusability. Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize recurring data workflows across the organization. Design capabilities to facilitate secure and efficient onboarding, sharing, and management of external data. Establish reusable patterns for data integration, governance, observability, lineage, and compliance, reducing reliance on bespoke solutions through automation and self-service. Create intuitive methods for various teams, including product, analytics, and AI solutions, to discover and leverage trusted enterprise data, enabling self-service analytics and rapid development. Collaborate closely with governance and security teams to ensure a balance between accessibility and appropriate controls.
Provide essential technical leadership as an authority across multiple engineering organizations. Influence architecture and technology decisions effectively, even without direct oversight. Establish and promote engineering standards, best practices, and reference architectures. Mentor and guide engineers and architects throughout the organization. Partner extensively with Product, Engineering, Data Governance, Security, and business stakeholders to resolve complex data challenges. Translate business needs into scalable, effective technical solutions. Build consensus and alignment around platform investments and strategic priorities.
Possess extensive experience architecting and building large-scale data platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise integration solutions, adeptly navigating both on-premises and cloud environments. Proficiency with technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, NiFi, Hadoop/Cloudera, Databricks, and modern cloud-native data services is essential. Demonstrate deep expertise in data engineering, data architecture, data integration, and cloud-native platforms. Proven ability to build reusable platforms that effectively serve multiple products, teams, or business domains. Maintain a strong understanding of data governance, privacy, security, metadata, and data quality best practices. Exhibit a demonstrated capacity to influence technical direction across diverse organizations. Possess exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Showcase a proven track record of translating ambiguous business challenges into scalable and successful technical solutions. Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and common data ecosystems including Oracle, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, BigQuery, and Snowflake is required.
