As a Network Security Specialist Advisor, you will manage network security environments by addressing requests, changes, incidents, and problems. Your responsibilities will include implementing and supporting network security solutions, particularly with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls, and cloud proxy solutions like Netskope.

You will leverage expert knowledge in Palo Alto features such as URL filtering, vulnerability protection, and threat prevention profiles, along with strong App-ID skills. Expert troubleshooting using packet captures and debugs on Palo Alto and Fortinet is crucial. You will also provide technical escalation to L2 engineers, write custom queries for Palo Alto reporting, and offer 24x7 on-call support for critical incidents.

Additional duties involve ensuring Service Level Agreements are met, performing system maintenance, creating resolution plans for device issues, and proposing service and technical improvements. You will also conduct weekly/monthly health checks, assist with upgrades and patches for multiple customer environments, and perform rule set reviews to enhance customer security footprints. Detecting and managing security issues through to closure is also a key aspect of this role.

This role requires a minimum of 12 years of network security administration experience. Essential skills include hands-on proficiency with Palo Alto, Prisma, and Fortinet, coupled with strong analytical abilities for complex issue resolution. You must possess excellent time management, strong ethics, and integrity, with flexibility to adapt to changing client and team needs.

Exceptional customer-facing communication and ITIL best practice knowledge are vital. Candidates should have proven experience with firewalls (Palo Alto), F5, Prisma SASE, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and switching technologies. Understanding authentication protocols like LDAP, IWA, IWA-direct, SSO, and Active Directory is necessary.

At least two mid-level network security certifications from vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet (e.g., CCNP Security, PCNSE) are required. A clear understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems is also essential. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of network troubleshooting experience, with at least 7 years in network and security administration. Network design experience is considered an advantage. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is expected.
