We seek a Network Engineer specializing in Office Connect within Global Connectivity Solutions (GCS) to bolster vulnerability remediation, lifecycle management, firmware upgrades, and production deployments across enterprise campus networks. This role involves technical execution using Cisco Catalyst and wireless, Meraki switching and wireless, and associated network management platforms. You will collaborate with senior engineers, network operations, information security, workplace technology, and vendors to ensure safe upgrades, troubleshoot implementation challenges, and maintain adherence to approved operational standards.
Execute comprehensive vulnerability remediation, firmware upgrades, and software maintenance across Cisco and Meraki switching and wireless platforms. Conduct thorough software image validation, pre-upgrade assessments, compatibility checks, post-upgrade verification, and campus device health checks. Support software lifecycle management and ensure platform currency for Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series switches, 9800 Wireless Controllers, access points, and Meraki MS/MR devices. Assist with device onboarding, configuration validation, testing, migration, hardware refresh, and deployment activities across various office locations.
Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues, including connectivity, VLAN assignments, trunking, spanning tree protocols, link aggregation, routing protocols, access control lists, and security features. Support wireless operations such as SSID validation, access point onboarding, controller and AP upgrades, RF troubleshooting, coverage verification, and client connectivity analysis. Leverage tools like Cisco Catalyst Center, Meraki Dashboard, and packet captures for visibility and troubleshooting.
Prepare detailed implementation procedures, rollback plans, test documents, and change tasks. Participate in CAB meetings and support technical change reviews. Execute approved changes during maintenance windows, providing timely updates. Resolve issues stemming from upgrades, configuration changes, or hardware replacements. Escalate complex problems with accurate diagnostics and logs. Participate in incident recovery, root cause analysis, and resolution validation. Support network modernization initiatives and maintain comprehensive network inventory and compliance records. Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is required. Candidates should possess 3-6 years of hands-on experience in enterprise campus network engineering, focusing on switching and wireless technologies. Essential knowledge includes Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series switching, enterprise Layer 2/Layer 3 campus technologies, Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers, Meraki MS/MR devices, and their respective dashboards. A strong understanding of VLANs, trunking, spanning tree protocols, routing, and wireless fundamentals is crucial.
Proficiency in using network management and troubleshooting tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center and Meraki Dashboard is expected. Experience with vulnerability remediation, firmware upgrades, and hardware refreshes is necessary. A disciplined approach to troubleshooting, coupled with strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, is vital. Familiarity with Change, Incident, and Problem Management practices is required. Basic scripting or automation knowledge using APIs, Python, or Ansible is desirable. A global support mindset, with flexibility for rotational shifts and out-of-hours support, is a must.
