As a Network Development Engineer on the Capacity Restoration Team, you will be instrumental in transforming manual capacity restoration processes into scalable, self-service operations through automation. This involves architecting innovative solutions, leading technical projects from inception to delivery, mentoring fellow engineers, and integrating restoration automation into the broader AWS tooling ecosystem.
Key responsibilities include owning the design and implementation of automation systems to restore out-of-service capacity efficiently. You will also be responsible for developing end-to-end automation frameworks, building and enhancing device health validation services, and designing self-service platforms for automated troubleshooting. Creating and maintaining crucial metrics and monitoring infrastructure, as well as designing automation to boost in-team resolution rates, are also key aspects of this role.
We are seeking experienced builders with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years in network development engineering, software engineering for networking, or network automation is required.
Proficiency in Python or another scripting/programming language for network automation is essential. You should have experience with routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS in large-scale environments, along with a proven track record in designing and implementing network operations automation at scale. Experience with workflow orchestration systems and service-oriented architectures is also a must.
