Microsoft's National Security charter for India focuses on enhancing national cyber resilience, elevating customer readiness, ensuring regulatory compliance, and establishing Microsoft as a trusted security partner for governments and critical industries. This charter operates across four key pillars: safeguarding the nation, protecting customers, ensuring citizen safety, and maintaining Microsoft's own security posture in line with Indian regulations.

The Deputy National Security Officer plays a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations of this charter. This enables the National Security Officer to concentrate on executive and regulator engagement, alongside Solution Engineering leadership. The position is strategically located at the intersection of national cyber agencies, regulatory bodies, Public Sector clients, and Microsoft's global security organizations.

A notable achievement includes Microsoft's integrated response to the transnational 'Boss Scam' CEO-impersonation malware campaign, in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). This effort involved coordinating expertise from Defender Security Research, the Digital Crimes Unit (DCU), the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), and CELA.

Manage regular engagements with over 8 national cyber agencies and regulators, preparing briefings and tracking commitments.

Serve as the primary contact for government-origin threat intelligence and malware submissions, routing and tracking cases across various security teams.

Drive the onboarding of Cybersecurity agencies to the Government Security Program.

Organize and deliver executive Cybersecurity Boardrooms for critical public sector customers, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Provide support for regulatory compliance, including MeitY Advanced Services Empanelment, DPDPA readiness, and mapping Microsoft cloud capabilities to Indian regulatory requirements.

Execute national awareness programs and the Government CISO program to enhance cybersecurity skills at scale.

Contribute to citizen safety initiatives, including supporting CrimeOS deployment and handling law-enforcement requests.

Support national programs like Project ATLAS and the development of secure government baselines.

Generate thought leadership through articles and talks, representing Microsoft Security at agency forums and CISO communities.

Offer field support to account and security specialist teams for regulation-driven customer needs in public sector and regulated industries.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with deep expertise in threat intelligence, incident response, or security operations.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Security stack, including Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender (XDR, Endpoint, Office 365), Security Copilot, and Purview.

Demonstrated experience working with or within Indian government, law-enforcement, CERT, or regulatory bodies.

Proven ability to brief senior government officials and CISOs effectively and independently.

Strong program management and cross-functional coordination skills are essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English; knowledge of Hindi is advantageous.

Must be an Indian citizen or eligible to work in India, subject to HR/CELA confirmation for any clearance considerations.
