Join us as a Network Implementation Engineer and play a pivotal role in the deployment, maintenance, and operation of private data networks globally. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers. Your contributions will drive faster, more efficient, and positive business outcomes, aiming to build the world's most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support our global customer base.

Google's extensive network serves millions worldwide. Our metro locations are crucial connection points within this network. The Network Team is dedicated to ensuring the reliable operation of this network at scale. We manage the entire lifecycle of space, power, and network assets across all Google data centers and metro points of presence. From initial site acquisition through construction, we are involved in every aspect of network delivery, including architecture, design, installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Oversee and ensure the quality assurance of installation technicians for racking, stacking, and installing networking equipment.

Test and commission routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices within both new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.

Develop comprehensive implementation plans and provide essential technical leadership and guidance throughout deployment activities.

Collaborate closely with project management, network engineering, and the broader Engineering team to proactively identify potential issues in network installations. This includes areas such as facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security and access, rack layout, and cable management.

Take ownership of network documentation, ensuring the timely updating and maintenance of network drawings and plans. Contribute to the development of work instructions or requirements for new or updated software-based workflows.

A Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required.

We are seeking candidates with at least 2 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations methodology.

Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors within a telecommunications environment is essential.

Preferred qualifications include experience in cross-functional collaboration and directing field operations. The ability to influence tactical and strategic decision-making is also highly valued.
