We're seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced automated mobile heavy equipment. This role is instrumental in removing humans from hazardous tasks by leveraging industrial design thinking and expert 3D CAD skills to bring mechanical hardware from concept to production.

This position focuses on creating robust designs that seamlessly integrate form, function, manufacturability, and long-term durability. You will collaborate with US-based engineering, product, and manufacturing teams, contributing to innovative solutions for demanding field environments.

Develop comprehensive mechanical designs, transforming concept sketches into detailed 3D models and production-ready drawings. Apply core industrial design principles, including ergonomics, human factors, serviceability, and aesthetics, to hardware intended for rigorous field use. Maintain and manage large, parametric 3D CAD assemblies in a real-time, cloud-based environment shared across global teams. Generate manufacturing-ready drawings complete with GD&T, tolerance specifications, bills of materials, and change documentation. Implement Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) and Design-for-Assembly (DFA) strategies to optimize cost, reduce part count, and streamline assembly processes. Create compelling concept alternatives, renderings, and design studies to inform critical decision-making and design reviews. Design a range of components, including enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, and operator interfaces, utilizing sheet metal, machining, molding, and fabrication techniques. Ensure CAD data integrity through rigorous part numbering, revision control, and adherence to design library standards. Maintain meticulous CAD data hygiene and manage part numbering and revision control according to established team protocols.

Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a closely related technical field. Bring 5 to 7 years of specialized experience in mechanical design, with a preference for backgrounds in automation, robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery. Demonstrate strong industrial design capabilities, encompassing concept development, product aesthetics, ergonomics, and hardware design. Exhibit proficiency in 3D CAD software, with Onshape being highly preferred. Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX is also advantageous. Have prior experience managing large CAD assemblies with multiple concurrent users, ensuring proper version control and configuration management. Possess a solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and industry-standard engineering drawing practices (ASME Y14.5 or ISO). Comprehend various manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, casting, extrusion, and injection molding. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English, capable of clearly documenting and articulating design rationale. Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to independently manage tasks with minimal oversight. Show a good grasp of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
