This role involves driving new product development from initial requirements through to production release. You will be responsible for identifying suitable materials based on performance and cost, and conducting DFMA analysis for plastics, machining, and stamping.
Key duties include applying GD&T, performing tolerance stack-up analysis, and creating SFMEA and DFMEA reports to identify and mitigate product hazards. You will also generate manufacturing and assembly drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions. Structural and thermal hand calculations are essential, along with managing CAD files and documents in Windchill.
Further responsibilities include creating engineering change plans, managing document releases through the change management process, and ensuring adherence to product lifecycle management practices. Experience with product verification and validation plans, test cases, and reports is also expected.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of experience in Plastic and Sheet product design and development using Creo. Experience with high sensors, voltage connectors, relays, switches, or functional plastic parts is advantageous.
Proficiency in Creepage and Clearance analysis and Insulation Coordination is required. Strong skills in DFMA (Plastic, Machining, Stamping), GD&T, and Tolerance stack-up analysis are essential. Candidates must be adept at creating SFMEA, DFMEA, and translating mitigation plans into CTQ and CTF.
Excellent command of plastics and sheet metal stamping design, manufacturing drawings, and assembly instructions is necessary. Experience with structural and thermal hand calculations, Windchill for data management, and engineering change management is also required. Good communication skills, a self-driven attitude, problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds are key attributes.
